Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) Training – Cohort 3
Description:
The Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) is an evidence-based, suicide-specific therapeutic framework used across clinical disciplines and treatment settings. CAMS involves a collaborative, interactive assessment process where the client plays an active role in identifying their suicidal risk and developing their treatment plan. Whether you're an experienced clinician or a early-career mental health professional, CAMS provides practical skills to reduce suffering and directly treat suicidal risk. This training opportunity is for behavioral health clinicians providing direct care, assessment, and treatment.
Applications are accepted through January 2nd, 2026. Notifications regarding the status of submitted applications will be delivered via email in early January.
The CAMS training involves 4 concrete learning experiences that progressively build upon one another over time presented by CAMS-care, consultant-trainers. A commitment to the completion of the 4 learning experiences is REQUIRED upon application acceptance.
- Completion of the Foundational Video is strongly recommended prior to attending the virtual training day on February 3rd, 2026 from 8:30am-4:30pm. In addition, the Foundational CE Test OR the free Knowledge Test is required for adherence purposes.
- Completion of the electronic CAMS book (approximately 6 hours) is strongly recommended prior to attending the virtual training day, February 3rd, 2026 from 8:30am-4:30pm.
- All-day virtual live role play training attendance and participation (February 3rd, from 8:30am-4:30 pm via Zoom, full day REQUIRED).
- Attendance and participation to four consultation calls (dates TBD via Zoom following virtual role play training) 1-hour virtual meetings.
Learners will receive CAMS Trained™ Designation following completion of these requirements in the training learning path.
Objectives:
After completing this training, participants will be able to:
- Explain core components of the CAMS framework, including its evidence base and ideal use in suicide-focused care.
- Understand how to use “drivers” of suicide to create a conceptualization of an individual client’s suicidal pain and risk.
- Administer the Suicide Status Form, an empirically supported, evidence-based risk assessment with clients.
- Complete a collaborative stabilization plans and suicide-specific, individualized treatment plans with clients.
- Conduct ongoing, suicide-focused care in a dynamic way that protects against malpractice tort litigation.
- Discuss specific cases and skill application with CAMS-care consultants during ongoing consultation.
Program Cost & Continuing Education Credits:
The BH Workforce Training Clearinghouse covers ALL costs associated with this training and the option to elect CE credits. CE credits for the training are offered by CAMS-care. Continuing Education Credits are available for Counselors (NBCC), Psychologists (APA), and Social Workers (NASW). Many other licensed professionals have found that their licensing body accept CAMS-care CE Credits, for example Marriage and Family Counselors. Check with your licensing organization to verify they accept the CE credits.
