Structural Family Therapy
This 3.5-hour course offers a comprehensive exploration of Structural Family Therapy (SFT) through the lens of General Systems Theory (GST). Participants will examine the foundational principles of systems thinking as they apply to family dynamics including concepts such as homeostasis, feedback loops, boundaries, hierarchies, and subsystems.
Participants will learn how to assess family structure, identify dysfunctional interactional patterns, and facilitate systemic change by shifting family organization. Emphasis will be placed on Salvador Minuchin’s Structural Family Therapy model, including key interventions like joining, reframing, boundary making, and unbalancing.
*Prerequisite: General Systems Theory: An Overview of Systems Thinking and Concepts.
